Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat against Sri Lanka in the first Test match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Dinesh Chandimal takes charge of Sri Lanka as they bid to avenge their recent one-day loss to Zimbabwe in today’s Test.

Chandimal was thrust into the spotlight as Test captain on Wednesday after Angelo Mathews resigned in the wake of his side’s shock 3-2 loss to Zimbabwe.

He has little time to familiarise himself with his new role before the one-off Test against the same opponents at the R Premadasa Stadium, which begins today.

Chandimal’s elevation to the captaincy means Niroshan Dickwella may keep wicket. Zimbabwe, who will be playing their first Test in Lanka since 2002, could grant a debut to batsman Tarisai Musakanda.
